Why are eggs from our hens better than “supermarket eggs”?

 

Our chickens are raised outdoors year round.  When the grass is green the chickens are moved regularly to access fresh pasture. That gives our eggs an almost orange yolk during the good weather months. They are also fed an organic grain mixture year round.

 

Our hens do not receive antibiotics, growth hormones or chemical laced feed like hens that are raised in traditional confinement houses. The chemical residues can find their way into the eggs.

 

Not only is the taste superior, they cook up better than eggs produced from hens in confinement houses and most importantly are healthier and a wonderful source of nutrients.

 

- Pastured eggs contain 10 times more omega-3 fatty acids with a ratio of 1 to 1 omega-6 to omega-3. Factory eggs have a top heavy ratio of 20 to 1. (Ref: New England Journal of Medicine -1989)

- Pastured eggs have 10% less fat, 40% more vitamin A, 400% more omega-3 fatty acids. *

- Pastured eggs have 34% less cholesterol. *

- Pastured eggs produce positive HDL or good cholesterol and lowers "bad" triglycerides.
